My Mac Software
February 19th, 2007
I’ve been using a Mac desktop for several months now, and I’m really happy with it. I’m about to set up a MacBook in a configuration similar to the desktop, so I thought I’d list the apps that I’m using the most. I know there’s a “transfer files and settings” utility, but I don’t have the required firewire cable, and I want to pick and choose which files and apps to bring over, so I’m just going to move things one at a time.
I’d be interested to find out what apps you use too. So feel free to leave a comment listing the apps you can’t live without.

If you like adblocker check out the “C No Evil” Toolbar. It replaces ads with images of your choice. You can create your own album of replacement images and share them with your friends. You can down load it from our website or at https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/4045/ You can watch a video demo at http://www.prowebsurfer.com/pwswebsitevideo/video/demo/output/demo/demo.html

Hi David,
just a quick question, I see you have Riva FLV encoder running on Win Xp under Parallels… which version are you using? I’ve been trying to run version 2.0 without success on my mac book pro.
It seem like it won’t run under Parallels.
Cheers,
Matthieu

Hi Matthieu,
I do have version 2.0 of Riva FLV Encoder installed. I have not tested it out or used it much at all. I just now tried encoding a quicktime into an flv, and got an error. I’m sure it has to do with the quicktime file format and the other libraries installed, such as LAME and FFMPEG.
If Riva launches for you, but you get an error when encoding, I bet this is the issue for you too. You might want to look into those libraries, and try different formats of source video.
Please post another comment if you’re able to make progress on this issue. Thanks!
